“Think before you speak. Read before you think.” - Fran Lebowitz

I cannot think of a better quote for the times at hand.

  1. The ONE Thing - Gary Keller

Absolutely loved this book. I like to always be reading something that moves me forward professionally. This book was recommended to me by a good friend who’s business sense I really admire and I’m so glad I purchased it. In a nutshell, Keller stresses the importance of minimizing distractions and making daily practice of focusing on the MOST important goals you have in life both professionally and personally. He provides a lot of good tips and makes you aware of the biggest traps we all fall into in our busy world. RIP to the highlighter that gave his last dying breath to me as I finished the book. You’ll be missed.

2. The Woman I Was Before - Kerry Fisher

I actually enjoyed this book. I always like books with women who have each others backs. The story was very complex, but it was a great read for evening snuggle sessions and something to distract my mind from daily demands. It held my attention and for me, that’s always a sign of a good read.

3. City of Girls - Elizabeth Gilbert

This book got great reviews, but I STRUGGLED to get through it. The content was fine, it just didn’t keep me captivated and drawn in. I love Elizabeth Gilbert and I will certainly keep reading her books, but I found this one to be a bit boring. With that being said, I respect that it is written from the perspective of a woman reflecting back on her life.

4. Nonviolent Communication - Marshall Rosenburg

TLIS - Sept 2020 reading 4.jpg

Okay, look. Right now, people are on edge. It seems people are frustrated and quick to snap. I selected this book intentionally because I feel like it was important to have a set of tools for myself when I feel like communication with someone just starts to take a little turn. I think this book is excellent and if I had my way, everyone would have been required to read at the beginning of 2020. We would have all been better off with it, lol! In all honesty, this is a great book and I highly recommend it to anyone who feels they are dealing with some tense situations with family or friends.

Well friends, that’s all I have for you this month! I’ll be back next month with some more reads. Until then, please share your most reads! I’d love to get my hands on a new book.

Thanks for stopping by!
