To say that this week has been so much better than last would be a massive understatement! I can’t believe how much we’ve gotten done and I’m really starting to see the whole look of this Toddler Room Makeover coming together! And yes… the overalls are back for everyone’s personal enjoyment!

WELCOME!

If you’re new here, hello! I’m Heather-Scherie. I’ve been a professional Interior Designer for forEVER now and I’m one of the owners of the Whitestone Design Group based in the Greater Seattle Area. I’m a lover of DIY’s, all things design, and great adventures. I have two irresistible little boys, ages two and four, and am the wife to my handsome hubs. My approach to life is not to take anything too seriously and find the joy in every second of it!

WALLPAPER

So, let’s talk wallpaper! I’m over the moon with how the wallpaper for this closet has turned out. I know that I HAVE to put the custom shelving and such in, but I swear I could just sit here and stare at it and not do anything else besides put some baseboard in. I’ve posted the cutest little video in my Insta Stories (thislifeistyled) of my little guy seeing it for the first time this week in my time that is pretty irresistible.

ROCK CLIMBING WALL

Here in the Pacific Northwest in the fall, chasing sunshine becomes a sport. Luckily, I was able to take full advantage of a couple days of sunshine over the last week and make this idea of a rock climbing wall for this Toddler Room Makeover happen! I found a beautiful piece of maple plywood to make this happen, and honestly, I really just let my creativity take control on getting it done.

First, I cut my plywood to fit the height of the room.

Next, I evenly space some drill holes and filled some T-Nuts from the back side so that I’ll have flexibility on where I can put the climbing rocks when the wall is up. The idea being that it can be a little easier now while the two boys are young and making it more challenging as they get older.

Then, I cut some backer boards that can install onto the studs and mount the climbing wall to.

All in all, it was a far less intimidating project than I was initially expecting!

PAINT, PAINT AND MORE PAINT

This is the part of the week that has fallen a little short for me this week. It’s done! But, I’m not quite sure that I’m happy quite yet. It’s one of those situations where I feel like I have a very specific color in my head, but with natural and artificial light that this particular bedroom has, I feel like that color might just be a bit too dark. However, my fail safe primary wall color, Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace OC-65, looks amazing!

Full disclosure, I’ve already painted the accent color twice… I initially just tried a small swatch on the wall of my favorite green I’ve used so many times, Jack Pine, and it was FAR too dark. So, I made a game time decision, put BM Norway Spruce on the walls, and I just felt like color was too blue.

In my most recent attempt, I went with Aganthus Green by Benjamin Moore. I like the color a LOT more, but it keeps nagging me that it might not be dark enough. So, I’ll need to decide over this week if I want to stick with it, or give it one more go.

WHAT’S NEXT

Moving into week four, I’m going to be focusing installing the shelving and organizational elements of the closet and starting to assemble furniture. So much has started to arrive and I’m excited to start digging in and seeing all the tiny human things! Kids spaces are the best!

Thank you so much for stopping in and taking the time to see what I’ve got going on. You’re support, time attention are so appreciated. Can’t wait to catch up with you next week. And don’t forget to stop in and check out all the other amazing projects going on on the One Room Challenge Blog!

Happy Designing!
